The Big Red fell to the Owls from Memphis University School Friday night by a score of 24-0. MUS controlled the majority of the opening half, but were held to a pair of field goals. The Big Red took over possession at their own 22 yard line with just over three minutes remaining in the half looking to take the lead. Nine plays later, MBA had a first and ten situation at the Owls’ 22 yard line. Unfortunately, MBA mishandled an exchange and MUS recovered the fumble. This turnover proved to be a pivotal moment in the game, as the Big Red failed to move the football in the third quarter and MUS reached the endzone to take a 14-0 lead at the end of that period. MUS added a fourth quarter field goal and touchdown to round out the scoring. Charlie Plageman led MBA’s receivers with five catches for 59 yards, while Drew Carney caught four passes for 44. Defensively, Daniel Hightower and Ben Daniel had six tackles each, including one for a loss. Linebacker Parker Prevost made two tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
