The Montgomery Bell Academy Class of 2029 celebrated the beginning of its high school journey last month, and on Friday, each member received their official MBA patch.
Senior class representative Rhett Wilbert delivered a message centered on the MBA motto, Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete—a way of life to embody, a standard to uphold, and a guide for making the most of one’s experience at Montgomery Bell Academy.
“The truth is, your time here is limited. High school will go by faster than you think,” Wilbert told the freshmen. “As a senior, I have already experienced some of my first lasts… At times, I took the long practices, late nights, and tedious homework assignments for granted. But now I look back and see that the culmination of those moments is what has made my time here at MBA so special.”
Legendary wrestling coach Frank Simpson, who retired in May after 30 years on The Hill, also spoke to the students. He reminded them of MBA’s rich tradition of graduates making an impact around the world and encouraged them to dream big about their own futures.
“You, the Class of 2029, have much to look forward to. You will be afforded the opportunity and education that can propel you to success, if you embrace it,” Simpson said. “It is no mystery why MBA students are successful. Montgomery Bell Academy has this motto as its foundation: Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete. You too have the chance to embrace the MBA tradition and become someone who makes a positive difference in the world.”
