MBA Debate Finishes 2nd at Tournament of Champions
The MBA Debate policy team of Chanden Climaco ('23) and Raleigh Maxwell ('24) placed 2nd overall in the Tournament of Champions National Debate Championship. The duo compiled a 10-1 record and lost 2-1 on ballots in the championship to a team from Liberal Arts and Science Academy (TX).
At the tournament, MBA tied its own national record by having four teams reach the elimination rounds. MBA also set a record by having three teams reach the quarterfinals, a feat that had never occurred in the history of the tournament. The teams of Cy Turner ('24)/Jack Young ('23) and Lenox Leverett ('24)/Joseph Hastings ('23) were the other quarterfinalists. The team of Turner/Young were matched up against the team of Climaco/Maxwell in the quarterfinals, but were the lower seed and lost on a walkover.
