1st Place at the Coleman Midgett Invitational

Short Version: Some days are more equal than others.
One of our mantras is "It's a good day to run." And it always is. And some days are especially good. The first cool day of fall is always a treat; the light rain on Thursday settled the dust without making the course sloppy; the sun was shining brightly, the sky was wonderfully blue, and the breeze felt refreshingly cool. And, winning is fun too!
Running at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville on the course where we will compete at the TSSAA State Meet in four weeks, the MBA harriers placed four runners in the top ten and finished first in a field of fourteen teams. Samuel Trumble finished first overall; Jack Wallace was third; JP Newman was seventh, and Gabe Guillamondegui was eighth. With our normal third runner Mitchell Chaffin out with a sore calf, Charlie Warner stepped up and ran a pr to finish as our final scorer. Division II-AA has five of the top ten teams in the state, and today's field was not as competitive as our State Meet will be; we were the favorite today, and I was proud of the boys for executing the race plans we had talked about and running well; it was also fun to see them support each other and celebrate the win.
In the JV race, Jack McDaniel finished first, followed closely by Walker Pierce in third and Justin Crosslin in fifth.
Our next race is the Metro Championship at Vaughn's Creek in Percy Warner Park on Tuesday 10/17, with the JV racing at 4:00 and the varsity at 5:00. Metro will be our only race in Nashville.
It's a good day to run!
