The MBA Garden took a huge step forward toward sustainability in February with the construction and installation of three composting bins. The bins were constructed with the able help of MBA Dad, Mr. Alex Mitchell, Chad Mitchell, Will Singer, Dr. Carro and Mr. Spiegl. Dr. Carro and Will did the site prep, Chad Mitchell, Alex Mitchell and Mr. Spiegl put the frames together and Dr. Carro, Alex Mitchell and Mr. Spiegl assembled the composters on site. The composters have a 64 cubic ft.capacity each for a total capacity of 192 cubic feet. This capacity is designed to take advantage of the vegetative waste from the new kitchen in Wallace, which when composted, will be used in the MBA Garden as plant food for crops and herbs to be harvested for kitchen use, creating a sustainability loop on campus. We would like to add a special "thank you" to Mr. Mitchell for the use of his workshop and tools and for his time and planning in the construction of the bins! Pictures are posted on the School Garden page of the web site.
